Harrowing Tsunami Footage

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Japan this morning, and aftershocks are rumbling the northeast part of the country, near Toyko. The quake is the 5th strongest recorded since 1900. Waves are expected to reach Hawaii and even across the Pacific to Oregon. It's said that the waves in the footage above are traveling near 500 mph. I can imagine nothing scarier.

  1. We have a college student staying with us from Japan right now. She is from a small town near Sendai. She was able to get ahold of her family today and they are safe although all the cabinets and shelves fell off the walls so all the dishes are broken. I'm sure the least of their worries. Today was the last day for the group at Bethel University so I think it was theraputic for them to all be together. I believe all family members but one are accounted for - pretty scary day for them. They are scheduled to go home Tuesday, of course, if they get the airport open... Anyway, I told her all my friends are praying for all the families in Japan and she got tears!! Love ya, Aunt Kris
