The DOD awarded the two-year, peer-reviewed grant to the Reeve Foundation’s North American Clinical Trials Network (NACTN), a consortium of university hospital neuro-surgical and neuro-rehabilitation teams to bring promising therapies into clinical trials. Led by Dr. Robert G. Grossman, professor of neurosurgery at The Methodist Hospital Neurological Institute in Houston, NACTN gathers and documents patient medical information in a data registry to better understand the body’s natural course of recovery after injury; uses standardized patient assessment protocols and develops new ones; and conducts new trials of therapy for spinal cord injury. It's clear some combination of public and private financing and cooperation will be necessary to make spinal cord injury recovery a reality - the $$$ just isn't there without the help of the federal government. Glad to hear they'll take a break from reading our emails and do something helpful :)!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your video. Our corgi pup is doing great. She weighs 20 lbs now. She continues to act just like our last corgi Ashley. She looks just like her too. So far she is our favorite of the 3. Larry D. is getting ready for his fatty tumor removal surgery next week. Surgeon said there is nothing to worry about but it sure has grown the past 1 1/2 months as we have waited for surgery. Original date was to have been last month but surgeon had to reschedule. Larry's dad died of cancerous abdominal wall tumors so it makes us a little nervous. Surgeon says he would guess size of a baseball but I would have to argue that it is larger. As long as it is not cancer size doesn't matter. I guess we will find out. Larry is pretty nervous as time is getting closer.
Nat is headed to Phoenix/Vegas for a few days. She is going with her friend who turned 21. Her mom & grandma are going with them. This is the family who owned the golf course where Nat worked for several years. They will have fun. They have a condo & a home in Phoenix. They all will meet in AZ then drive to Vegas. I told grandma to keep an eye on the girls & her reply was they will have to keep an eye on me. She is quite the character. Great family!! Nat continues to love Florida. She doesn't date the golfer that drifted her away from Ohio. They parted ways a few months ago. She is going to continue to live there as she loves her job & enjoys Florida. She is going back for her masters in nursing this fall. Looking forward to seeing her next month & then she will be back here in August as she is in a wedding. Her beautiful friend Jenna is getting married. Where do the years go? If I recall correctly your family has an upcoming wedding in August. That will be fun for your family.
