The Inaugural Post

Geez, I hope I don't bumble my lines John Roberts-style. I've been meaning to start this blog for a while, and I thought, what better time to kick off than the hottest, most stiflingly humid days of summer, when everyone's indoors enjoying their AC, and prior to the both the return of the school year and the return of my much-beloved college football season. And like my fumbling Michigan Wolverines, I hope that this blog, like their season, will prove to entertain, amuse, and ultimately be a success. (And beating State sure wouldn't hurt.)
There are many things I would like to do, and hopefully this format can help to accomodate those goals. So check back often as I get used to this whole blogging thing, and we can beat this heat together.

Glad to read your posting. Very nicely done. Larry D. has been on a diet & has lost 11 pounds. Ashley Dog has lost a total of 4 1/2 pounds. We won't discuss me. You would think as much as I have been assisting with Shrimpy & his cleaning I would have a little success. Oh well I haven't been trying. I need to walk with Larry D. instead of staying @ home each evening. He is getting pretty excited about his fishing trip. I am more than ready for my Dallas trip 4 day vacation in early Oct. Nat was busy working @ the golf course this weekend. They held a hot wing contest Saturday night which was a benefit for cancer. It was so busy they had 5 girls working. There was a hospice poker run on Saturday. Hundreds of bikes parked along the streets in Danville. They had 2 bars to go to in our town. Pretty awesome to see.
Nat is ready for college. Clinicals will start in Feb. That will bring back memories of grandma when she works @ Licking Memorial Hospital. My prediction is Nat will end up working there someday in ICU prior to going to anesthesia school. We sure miss grandma but are surviving. She would be proud of everything we have been doing. I promised her that we would look after Shrimpy. We always appreciated coming home to her nice meals after working all day for all these years. She loved cooking so much. Shrimpy still has not even made soup & is not going to. He is improving each day but is still lost. One of the retirees told me today it will take about 2 years before he fully recovers from the loss. We just take it 1 day @ a time. Hello to the entire Young family.

Have fun @ the game. Nat had CPR training today. She only missed 1 question so I guess she is certified. She would leave me lay & forget all her CPR training. Just joking. Nat is so caring & calm when dealing with sickness.

I'm sure you are so excited for football season to begin. Next summer I want to plan a trip to MI to go boating with your Grandpa & Grandma Young. They said we would have to come see their place up north. It was my plan to come up this summer but my extra vacation days were used during my mom's illness.

My retiree buddies sure love discussing - arguing about sports each morning. I love listening to them talk about history of their lives- farms, etc. They enjoy bringing in old photos to show of their families or different events that took place many years ago. I feel honored that they want to share the info. Such special friendships we have built. I still haven't decided where the 2 retirees are taking me for our 25th wedding anniversary as Larry D. will be on his fishing trip. I know the 1 man's wife quite well & it will be fun to meet Mr. Yauger's lady friend. The 5 of us will have a good time. I'm thinking I will cook a meal & have them come to our house to visit.

They enjoy my homemade treats that I take in once a month. Tomorrow I'm taking oatmeal raisin cookies.

B-Y Brighton warehouse guys Bob & Kurt are getting chocolate chip cookies on Wed. 8/26
This package will ride up front with the driver.

Hope the weather is great!! Looking forward to seeing the therapy session photos. Take care & be careful.
