Trust Your Power
I love this ad. Derrick Coleman came out of college undrafted, but fought his way on to the Seattle Seahawks, who play on Sunday for the right to go to the Super Bowl. Oh, and he's deaf - the first deaf offensive player to ever play in the NFL. Very impressive.

The Game
Wow. After yesterday's game, I feel like a combination of this:
and this:
We were the seal, about to snatch a mega victory away from our most hated rival, until they were, snatching the victory back and swimming off with it. To complete the metaphor, now the charter fishing company is closed until next November. And we're stuck smelling like fish for 365 days.
We also were the illusions, making the impossible possible. How can a team incapable of amassing more than 200 total yards in a game versus the middling Iowa Hawkeyes eclipse that in just one quarter against the undefeated Buckeyes? Pulling out all the stops in the season's final game? A maddening mix of player inexperience and coaching incompetence? Yes and yes.
Ahh...the roller coaster of fanhood.

My Favorite Super Bowl Ad
This 2 minute, $12 million bit came directly after halftime of the Super Bowl, and features Clint Eastwood growling nice things about Detroit and its never-say-die attitude. It's a near sequel to the Eminem-starring spots from last year, but is even more optimistic, and this time the soaring rhetoric of the ad is backed up by actual revenue numbers coming out of Detroit. Some GOP commentators criticized this as basically an Obama campaign ad, which, as it features avowed Republican Eastwood, it was obviously not intended to be. But since Obama did take on the risk of bailing out the Michigan auto industry, against the advice of GOP frontrunner and Michigan native Mitt Romney (who has gone against character and decided not change his mind on that. We'll see how that effects him in the Feb. 28th primary), who would have seen Detroit into a 'managed bankruptcy' (a probable precursor to liquidation), I guess he deserves some credit.
Anyway, it's an arresting, captivating ad:
I must say though, I liked these better:
Pizza, pizzaaaaaa:
Animal Interlude - Not quite a Super Bowl ad, but pretty cool:

Top 3 Super Bowl Ads
Did Eminem sell out, making all these commercials? Who cares. This is really good. Still don't want a Chrysler though. And at a $3 million per 30 second clip, this was pretty pricy, especially for a company surviving off the taxpayers' dime.
This is hilarious.
"Hit 'em with the Kenny G". This spot is packed full of hilarity. And I love that car.
Honorable mention:
Short and sweet, with a humorous payoff. What else can you ask for?

The BEST Nike Ad Ever
Directed by Oscar-nominated director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, (director of Babel), this ad is maybe the most expensive ever made, maybe the most planned (over a year in the making), maybe among the longest - but it's definitely the coolest. You've probably seen it if you spend anytime at all watching ESPN or ABC; it's been ubiquitous amongst their various World Cup promotions.
Most of all, it's fun. Featuring multiple cameos, humorous asides, and pop-culture references, along with some of the world's best footballers, it's entertainment at its finest. A difficult feat to achieve, but this is advertising at its best - art.

One Game Changes Everything
I love this ad - the pacing, the imagery, the slight crescendo towards the end, the overall message. Soccer aka Football is probably the most unifying, egalitarian force on the planet. Everyone likes it, anyone can play, and no one can buy a victory, it must be earned on the pitch. I'm pumped for this summer.
